The Women's Forum of Washington, D.C. brings together some of the most accomplished women in America's capital city who lead in diverse fields and who share a common bond of purpose in engaging and promoting women in leadership. Founded in 1981, the organization began with a core group of 35 members who were women pioneers at the top of their respective fields. Today, the WFWDC is comprised of 240 leading women in politics, business, law, government, medicine, industry, technology and the arts and sciences.
The WFWDC is an affiliate of the International Women's Forum (IWF) - the only organization of its kind in the world today representing top women leaders in diverse fields whose mission is to further dynamic leadership, leverage global access and to maximize opportunities for women on five continents. Advancing women's leadership across careers and cultures with global programs, world leadership conference, executive development training, seminars, delegations and a vast network of peer mentoring and support, IWF offers opportunities unmatched anywhere else to the WFWDC members by virtue of affiliation with the global organization.
Each month, the WFWDC schedules a program that provides a venue for members to network, connect, and exchange ideas. The programs are substantive, interesting and fun, and often highlight individual members' areas of expertise. Examples range from a behind-the-scenes look at the US Supreme Court with Justices Ginsburg and O'Connor; to a featured presentation about the US Mint with its Director and WFWDC member, Henrietta Holsman Fore and to a summertime lunch at 1789 prepared by its executive chef and WFWDC member, Ris Lacoste.
The insight, talent and expertise that members share at monthly gatherings make for some of the most substantive and innovative programming in Washington. The opportunity to interact with some of the most knowledgeable women in DC allows members to see familiar faces each month, as well as network with Supreme Court Justices, government officials, Ambassadors, CEOs and other leaders of enterprise.
The WFWDC provides a forum for members to connect into a network like no other in Washington, DC.
